Circle of John Westall - Original 19th Century Oil. A very fine English School panting with figures by an estuary, an old church and castle in the distance. Unsigned. On canvas. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt in areas. Inspection under UV light shows some areas of restoration. Stretcher bar marks are visible at the top edge. There are some areas of minor craquelure, but the paint layer is stable. There are 3 old tears which have been patched from the back. The canvas is slightly slack.
