Description
This exquisite portrait captures the refined Mrs. Harriet Heylyn, elegantly attired in a stunning Empire-style gown, adorned with silk organza sleeves and delicate lace detailing. One hand rests gently against her cheek as she gazes thoughtfully into the distance, while the other lightly holds her pearls. Unsigned. Inscribed 'Mrs. Harriet Heylyn born 1788 died 1878. Sir George Hayter painted this portrait' verso. Beautifully presented in a gilt frame with delicate detailing. On panel.Condition
The condition is typical for a painting of this age, including fine craquelure and light abrasions across the surface. Small areas of yellowing to the varnish. The panel is slightly warped, but this does not affect the appearance of the painting from the front. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of restoration, notably to the subject's face. The frame shows signs of wear consistent with age, including scuffs, chips and indentations throughout.
