Description
A fine still life painting by Charles Thomas Bale depicting an abundant arrangement of fruit, including grapes, apples, and plums, rendered in rich autumnal tones against a dark, atmospheric background. The composition features carefully arranged produce alongside a ewer and a dead woodpigeon, executed in the classical Dutch still life tradition. Presented in an antique gilt frame with various running patterns. Signed lower left. Acquired as a pair, with companion work SZ619. On canvas.Condition
Minor surface marks to the perimeter of the canvas. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear and stable cracking. Various small losses to the beaded running pattern. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
