Charles Smith FRSA (1913-2003) - 1971 Oil, River Landscape with Sailing Boats

A fine mid-20th century oil by well listed artist Charles Smith. Here he has depicted a quiet waterway with moored sailing boats and a distant town in the background. The overcast sky has been expressly painted and has a wonderful light quality. Signed and dated. On board.

The board has slightly warped over time, however this is minor. Minor marks and paint loss to the edges, possibly from a previous frame. Inspection under UV light reveals no signs of restoration.

39.4 x 56.4cm (15.5" x 22.2")
Sheet: 41.4 x 57.8cm (16.3" x 22.8")
