A finely drawn pastel by highly regarded artist Charles Pelletier (1922-2005). The vibrant colour palette and fluid marks are typical of Pelletier's impressionistic style. The gradation of colour adds depth to the composition and draws the eye to the tranquil clear skies visible to the background. We can see a lone gondola driver steering his Venetian rowing boat towards the vivid city streets. Well presented in a double card mount and modern gilt frame. There is some discolouration and surface scuffing to the frame. Overall the appearance is very good.

Artist Biography
Charles Pelletier was a French painter born in 1922. His work focuses on the French seaside specifically in the region of Etretat. He also travelled frequently to Venice and Istanbul where the vibrant city streets inspired a great number of artworks.
