A delightful and dynamic watercolour scene by the artist Charles James Lewis, depicting figures forking hay in the fields. This labour intensive job required my hands at the time. The artist has depicted another group, repeating the same task further down the field to the left. The watercolour has been signed by the artist to the lower right. Well presented in a decorative gilt-effect frame with a new card mount. On paper.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. On closer inspection there is some bleach marks in the paper to the upper left corner. There is a small green mark to the lower right edge of the frame.
