The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing to the overall surface. Some foxing and discolouration to the mount. Scuffing and widening of the corner joints of the frame.

Charles Harrington was a painter who was active from the early 1900's onwards. During the above dates, Johnson & Greutzner record him as having exhibited at the Fine Art Society, Royal Academy, Dudley Gallery, Walker's Gallery, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Walker Art Gallery, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts from an address in Brighton and Lewes, Sussex. He is known to have been an early member of the Brighton Art Club yet he is something of an anomaly as no painter or artist is listed in any government records hence the absence of firm dates.
Several 'authorities' state that he was born in 1865 and died in 1943, however, there is no artist/painter fitting those dates. One source states he died in an air raid, but again there is no evidence of this. The same source states the Victoria & Albert Museum and Aberdeen Art Gallery hold examples. There are no records to this effect either.
