Catherine Board - Early 19th Century Watercolour Ottoman King
Description
An exquisite watercolour portrait of regal Ottoman king, with a curling beard and a red and gold crown perched upon his crisp white turban. The artist has used the traditional brush technique of minuscule individual brushstrokes to build up the tonal variation in the skin. This technique was a staple of artists painting at the time. The artist has signed to the lower right corner and inscribed on the reverse. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including minor discolouration to the paper. The paintings vibrancy is still strong.
