This charming 18th-century portrait depicts a fashionable young lady of evident wealth and refinement, her lustrous multi-strand pearls and elegant low-cut silk gown speaking to her elevated status, while her neatly coiffured hair, adorned with a delicate rose, and the fan held with practised grace, hint at the playful flirtatiousness so characteristic of the Rococo age.
