Framed Mid 20th Century Oil - Boats by The Harbour Wall

Description

This charming oil painting depicts a bustling harbour scene with several moored fishing boats floating on calm turquoise waters. The boats, rendered with loose, impressionistic brushstrokes, feature distinctive red trim along their hulls and tall masts reaching skyward. The artist has employed a restrained palette of blue, green, red and brown, painting the scene in a style associated with the Newlyn School. Indistinctly signed with initials to the lower right. The painting is well presented in a distressed gilt-effect frame. On card.

Condition

The painting doesn't quite fit the frame to the lower right hand corner, revealing the edge of the card. Various chips and scuffs on all sides of the frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
