A rowdy genre scene in the manner of Flemish artist Adriaen Brouwer (1605-1638). A man plays the bagpipes, while another drunkenly dances, a drink still in his hand. Several other figures gather around a table, one of whom may be Brouwer himself, according to a German label affixed to the stretchers verso. The work is well presented in a gilt frame. Unsigned. Condition
Overall the condition is very good. The artwork has undergone restorative work, including relining and overpainting. Discolouration and some small areas of craquelure. The frame is in good condition overall, with some light wear around the edges and to the corners.
