Artist Biography
Painter, mainly of portraits and figure compositions born in Edinburgh. Also known as Raeburn Dobson, he studied at Edinburgh College of Art, 1917-20 and in London and Paris. Dobson exhibited widely in London at the RA and elsewhere including the Artists of the Northern Counties at the Laing Art Gallery, RSA, RSW, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and RCamA of which he was elected an Associate member in 1921and a full member in 1930. He was the son of painter Henry John Dobson and the brother of Cowan Dobson. His work is represented in the City of Edinburgh Art Collection.
