Hedley Fitton was an etcher and engraver born in Didsbury, Manchester. He was a pupil at Warrington School of Art and worked as an editor and illustrator for The Daily Chronicle in Manchester. Best known for his etching of architectural subjects, Fitton travelled throughout England, Scotland, France, and Italy. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1908 and exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy. Examples of his work are in the V&A, Worcester City Art Gallery, British Museum, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Hull Art Gallery and Hereford Museum and Art Gallery amongst many others.
