Artist Biography
"I paint what I see and feel. The line in my black-and-white drawings must also reflect colour, and that is difficult. The technical detail is not important. It's about the atmosphere, which I want to express. I continue to paint in everything I create." Rinny (Reinerus Gerardus Johannes) Reulink was a Dutch artist, born in Velp. A great admirer of artists such as Cezanne, Rik Wouters, Francis Bacon, and Soutine, his work blends Impressionism, Expressionism, and Fauvism. He showed artistic promise from a young age and studied at the Arnhem Academy of Fine Arts. After early struggles, including financial hardship and some time spent training as a house painter, he fully committed to art in 1956. Reulink's work - encompassing paintings, drawings, etchings, and watercolours - evolved continuously over the course of his life. His work focused on subjects like human emotion, motherhood, rural life, women, animals, and landscapes.
