Description

A charming scene depicting a woman and her dog in a kitchen interior. The dog eats scraps from the floor whilst the woman washes dishes, looking directly to the artist, capturing a glimpse of the everyday life of women in service during the early to mid 19th century. Unsigned. Well presented in a gilt frame with acanthus detail to the cove and a laurel and berry running pattern. On panel.

Condition

There is some discolouration to the varnish. Minor cracking to the panel. Some light abrasions to the surface. There are some losses and stable cracking to the gilt frame.
