A wonderful nude study by the British artist Richard Slater. In this bright and cheerful nude study Slater has used a layering technique to add texture and depth within the composition. Well presented in a contemporary wood frame and double card mount. Mall Galleries, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, 2017 exhibition label fixed to the reverse. Signed to the lower right. In fine condition overall with some very minor scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography
Painter and printmaker, born in Tottenham, London. He attended Hornsey School of Art, 1943-45 and, following National Service again from 1948-50 when his teachers included Alfred Daniels. Following his achieving his National Design Diploma he spent a year in postgraduate study in Art Education. His career in teaching spanned more than a quarter of a century. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Academy, Royal Society of Marine Artists, Whibley Gallery, London and in touring Arts Council of Great Britain exhibitions during the mid-1950's. He is represented in the collections of Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter, the Nuffield Foundation and in the collections at the Leicester, Portsmouth and Southend Councils. In 1992 he was awarded the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours medal for ‘The most outstanding painting by a non-member’.
