Description
A charming study of John William Waterhouse's Echo and Narcissus in watercolour. The scene depicts the Greek myth of Narcissus who, after rejecting Echo's advances is tricked by Goddess Nemesis to catch sight of his own reflection which he falls in love with. Narcissus is unable to look away from his reflection and stares at it until he dies. The narcissus flowers dotted around the scene are further symbols of this ancient myth. Signed and dated to the lower right. On watercolour board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some light wear to the edges of the paper.
