C. Ward - Naive 1945 Oil Summer On The River

Description

A thoroughly charming, naive oil landscape showing a river under a blue sky with boats on the water and red roofed buildings to the left. The painting is unsigned, and presented in a fine Hogarth frame with card mount. There is an inscription on the original backing paper affixed on the reverse with the artist's signature, date and a recent inscription with the date of when the painting was last reframed (1984). On canvas board.

Condition

There is foxing across the surface of the painting and some areas of discolouration in the sky. The mount is discoloured with areas of foxing. The frame has small losses to all four corners.
