This charming watercolour depicts the Keigwin Arms in Mousehole, Cornwall. Now a hotel, this building was built in the 14th century and was Mousehole's local pub for centuries. its owner Jenkyn Keigwin was killed here while defending the building against Spanish invaders. The pub was one of the only buildings left intact in Mousehole after the Anglo-Spanish war of 1585-1604. Signed, dated and titled to the lower border. On wove.
