A fine Biedermeier-period portrait depicting a respectable young gentleman dressed in his finest attire. He wears a tailored wool coat, a silk cravat, a striped waistcoat, and a gleaming guard chain, all indicative of his status. Executed with meticulous brushwork, the portrait captures each detail with remarkable precision and refinement. Listed alongside a companion piece depicting the sitter's wife (SY252). Unsigned. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Fine craquelure and light abrasions throughout. The artwork has undergone previous restoration, including a small tear repair to the lower right. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age. Light wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentations.
