A charming scene outside a school depicting boys catching the York-London coach home for the Christmas holidays. Snow covers the ground as clouds from the horses' breath fill the cold air. Presented glazed in a cream mount and an ornate nineteenth-century gilt frame with a bead course to outer edge, bead and twisted ribbon moulding, and a silver gilt inner edge. Signed and dated to the lower-right edge. On wove.
Condition
There is some foxing and discolouration. There are some small losses to the moulding on the frame and an area of restoration at the lower-right corner. Overall the picture is well-presented and in very good condition for its age.
