Description

A very fine late 19th century etching by the artist Axel Haig. Here he has captured worshipers leaving the St. Maria Del Mar cathedral in Barcelona, built between 1329 and 1383. It is an outstanding example of Catalan Gothic, with a unity of style that is very unusual in large medieval buildings. Published in London, 1919 by W.R. Howell, The Gallery, Bedford Row. Printed by Chas Weilch. Signed in plate. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. With light wear to the edges of the paper, possibly caused by a previous mount.
