Description
This intimate portrait depicts a young woman engaged in needlework, seated in a relaxed pose against a green chair. The artist employs loose, impressionistic brushwork to capture the domestic scene, with particular attention given to the interplay of light and shadow across the sitter's face. Attributed on a label affixed to the reverse. Well presented in a gilt frame with a canvas slip. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
The artwork is in very good condition. Some small areas of craquelure. Marks and scuffs to the frame leave it with a deliberately rustic finish. Discolouration to the canvas slip.
