An autumnal view from a stirrup-room with a woman to the left of the composition. Presented unglazed in a gold card mount and a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. Unsigned. Inscribed on the verso, 'Watercolour by Sir Charles W.D. Staveley (about 1881) View from Stirrup-room window of Stamford Mead, Warminster, Wilts. Given to Miss Elle Taylor of St Leonards who gave it me Dec. 1902. H.C. Staveley'. General Sir Charles William Dunbar Staveley GCB (1817-1896) was a British Army officer and the author of this inscription was likely his son Henry. On watercolour paper.Condition
There is some foxing and discolouration. There is some tarnishing to the mount and some scuffs and marks to the frame.
