Abbot's contrast from strong colours in the foreground to faded, paler tones in the midground and background draw the eye deep into the countryside depicted.
There is a pressed watermark found in the middle of the artwork.
On the reverse there is an inscription stating the piece is by John White Abbott, but we do not have the provenance to confirm this.
The painting is well presented in a gilt effect dark wooden frame with mount board. The painting is framed on the laid with wash lines.
