Frank Dadd (1851-1929) was a historical painter and illustrator in oil and watercolour. Born in Whitechapel, London, a nephew of Richard Dadd, he studied at the RCA in 1871 and the RA Schools where he was awarded a silver medal for his life drawing. In about 1877 he began working as an illustrator and his work was reproduced in the Illustrated London News and The Graphic. He showed at the RA and was elected RI and ROI. He lived at Wallington, Surrey and later in Teignmouth, Devon, and his work is in the collections of the Tate, Wellcome Collection, British Museum, and HM Queen Elizabeth.
