Alexander Coutts Fraser (1868-1939) was a painter and printmaker. He was one of the first students to study at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and later held the post of Head during the period 1914-34. Fraser travelled in France and elsewhere in Europe from the 1890s until the First World War. A prolific etcher, he also made posters, some of which were shown by the Great Western Railway. He exhibited at the RSA, GI, AAS, and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and examples of his work are in the collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery, Robert Gordon University, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow.
