Arthur Twidle (1865-1936) - Original c.1910 Watercolour. A superb interior scene with Roman figures in a temple, very well presented in a cream double mount and modern gold frame. With an old label to the reverse listing title and artist Unsigned. On wove. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some minor spots of surface dirt to the mount and some minor wear and small chips to the frame. Generally the appearance is very good.

Collection Information

This painting was originally painted to be reproduced as a Sunday School "Attendance Stamp" (according to an old label on the reverse). Arthur Twidle was a well renowned British illustrator, who produced illustrations for such publications as Arthur Conan Doyle's 'Sherlock Holmes' and exhibited his works at the Royal Academy.
