Arthur Cecil Fare was born in Bath in 1876. He painted in watercolours and specialised in landscapes, village and harbour scenes and architectural subjects. As a profession he was an accomplished architect and many of his views depict scenes in the Bristol and Bath area, including a record of parts of the city destroyed by bombing. He was a Member and regular exhibitor at the Royal West of England Academy showing 106 works between 1922 and 1956. He was also a member of the 'Bristol Savages', being their President in 1927.
