Artist Biography
Tome Whitehead was a painter and etcher born at Rothwell, near Wakefield, the son of a miner. He attended Halifax School of Art and as an exhibitor showed at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters and was a member of the Society of Yorkshire Artists. After World War II he exhibited with Council for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts, West Riding Artists and with the Artists' International Association. Examples of his work are in the collections of Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council, Hepworth Wakefield and Leeds Museums and Galleries.
