A charming early 20th Century watercolour showing a farmer driving cattle through Dundry, a rural village in the Chew Valley, past the parish church and cottages. The painting has been presented in a speckled effect frame with wash-line mount. There is a label at the reverse with the artist's name and location. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The mount has discolouration and foxing.

Artist Biography
Arthur Charles Fare was born in Bath in 1876. He painted in watercolours and specialised in landscapes,village and harbour scenes and architectural subjects. As a profession he was an accomplished architect and many of his views depict scenes in the Bristol and Bath area, including a record of parts of the city destroyed by bombing. He was a Member and regular exhibitor at the Royal West of England Academy showing 106 works between 1922 and 1956. He was also a member of the 'Bristol Savages', being their President in 1927. They were a group of artists who met regularly and painted together in their headquarters which was decorated as an American Indian wigwam and situated on Brandon Hill, Bristol between 1907-1920. It is recorded he exhibited over 200 works with them between 1928 and 1958 the year of his death. It is known that he visited France and painted in the Dinard Area Circa 1925, and he also visited Italy and Spain.
He was a prolific artist and his works were well composed and competently executed and examples of his paintings can be seen in the Bristol City Art Gallery.
