Artist Biography
Robert Flavell Micklewright (1923-2013) RWS RE was a painter, poster designer and illustrator, born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire. He studied at Croydon School of Art, 1939, Wimbledon School of Art, 1947-49 and the Slade School of Fine Art 1949-52. Micklewright's illustrative commissions included work for Radio Times, Oxford University Press, Gulf Oil and Shell, and in 1970 he designed a poster for London Transport and stamps for the Royal Mail. Micklewright was elected a member of the Royal Watercolour Society, also showing at the Royal Academy of Arts and at the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, who elected him a member in 1976.
