Description

A charming coloured stipple engraving after The Concert by John-Baptiste Pater. Thought to be based on the poems of Charles Moraine, the original set of four paintings each highlighted the decadent French bourgeoisie, dressed in fine costume and enjoying the delights of being wealthy in 18th century France. The artist captured the figures in a rococo style, with an emphasis on the elegance of the figures and luxurious dress. Signed in graphite to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame with ribbon moulding. Label with artist and title verso. On wove.
