Alfred Nixon Moores (1914-2000) was a Bristolian artist. He won a scholarship to British Municipal Art School, followed by an apprenticeship at Mardon, Son and Hall, where he designed for advertising and packaging. In World War II, his perspective views helped the Royal Air Force to destroy enemy U-boats from the air, his series of dramatic panels of aircraft in action being exhibited at the National Gallery in 1944. His paintings of life in wartime Burma secured his election to the Bristol Savages in 1946. Moores exhibited at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and the RWA, his work also being hung at the National Portrait Gallery and the RSA.
