A fine early 20th Century etching, showing the old, ramshackle houses on the Arno in Florence. The artist has captured the beautiful shafting sunlight with crisp shadows across the buildings. The artist has signed and inscribed to the lower edge and the etching has been presented in a simple wood frame with card mount. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The original plate lines are intact.

Artist Biography

Painter, printmaker and glass engraver, born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. After education there he attended the Slade School of Fine Art, 1913, following a period as a railway clerk. Blundell painted a large number of architectural subjects in Britain and on the continent, showing at RA, NEAC, Alpine Club Gallery and extensively in the provinces. Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, other provincial museums and the Luxembourg, Paris, hold his work. Lived in Icklingham, Suffolk, and for many years at Cavenham Mill, Bury St Edmunds.
