A fine rare early New Zealand watercolour with body colour, depicting a Rotomahana spring. Painted on wove laid down on backing paper. Location inscribed to backing- "Tarata - one of the boiling springs of the Rotomahana" in pen to the lower right. There is a further inscription in pencil to the lower left- "Alexander Lang. Sketched by himself on the spot".

Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.
