A fine engraving depicting Cupid visiting Psyche in his palace under the cover of night. Although we have catalogued this as 18th century, it may be earlier. Inscribed to the lower right in plate with 'Ant Sal exc' indicating the original publisher Antonio Salamanca (1479-1562). Well presented in a gilt frame with ornate corner details. On paper.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a light foxing mark to the upper left quadrant. The engraving has been trimmed within the plate lines beneath the mount, and laid to card. Some wear and small losses to the frame.
