Description

An amusing genre scene after David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690). The original was sold at Christie's in 2020. As with many of his genre scenes, Teniers uses an L-shaped arrangement, with the primary focus on the couple in the foreground. The man, with a drink in his hand, seems to be paying a prostitute and touches her face. Unsigned. Well presented in a wooden frame with a gilt inner edge and a veneer inlay. On board.

Condition

The condition is very good for a picture of this age. Discolouration and small areas of overpainting. Light wear to the frame.
