A finely detailed early nineteenth-century watercolour after Claude Lorrain (1604-1682) in which Apollo appears as a herdsman while Mercury plays the flute. The scene is set against an idyllic pastoral landscape with an arched bridge and distant mountains. Unsigned. On paper.
