Description
A charming 19th century oil after Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617–1682) depicting little beggar boys playing dice. To the left, one of the boys stares directly at a viewer, whilst a small dog waits patiently for scraps. Unsigned. Well presented in a gilt frame, with acanthus ornaments to the corners and delicate running patterns to the inner and outer edges. On copper.Condition
There are light abrasions across the surface of the artwork and a small area of craquelure to the lower right. Inspection under UV light reveals signs of overpainting. The frame shows signs of wear consistent with age, including light scuffing, stable cracking and losses to the inner and outer edges.
