A fine hand coloured engraving by William Wynne Ryland (1732-1783) after Angelica Kauffman's stipple and etching of the same design. The scene depicts the mythological story of Paris and Helen fleeing the court of King Menelaus. The pair can be seen walking in a port with Helen's head turned by two women talking behind. Prince Paris has his arm placed around her back as if the couple are in a hurry to hide. The scene has been composed in a circular design, with both artists and publisher's names inscribed to the lower margin. Well-presented in an elegant gilt-effect frame with delicate bead course. On paper.
