A charming study of a billy goat by Dutch artist Adriaan la Riviere (1857-1941). The goat stands beside a farm building, looking towards a dusky horizon. Signed to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame. On panel.

Condition

Some discolouration to the paint; however, the artwork is otherwise in fine condition. The frame is in fine condition.

Artist Biography

Adriaan Philippus la Rivière (1857-1941) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman. He trained at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten (Academy of Fine Arts) in Rotterdam, where he would later teach. He received a Royal Scholarship from King Willem III in 1897, which allowed him to study in Munich and Italy.
