A charming late 19th century street scene by the artist Adriaan la Rivière (1857-1941) depicting an encounter between a lady with a milkmaid's yoke and an elderly gentleman with a stick. Completed in a soft impressionist style, the artist pays great attention to light and shadow, capturing the early morning golden hour. Signed to the lower left. Well presented in an ornate gilt frame with a delicate floral running pattern. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
