Description

A characterful genre scene after David Teniers, one of the most successful Flemish painters of the seventeenth century. Scenes of peasant life were popular during this period, often set in lively inns populated with larger-than-life characters. Here, a maid grasps a man by his arm as he drunkenly shouts and raises his red hat. Signed to the lower left. On panel.

Condition

Overall the condition is good for a picture of this age. There is some light wear around the edges, and some areas of overpainting. There is also some discolouration, as is typical with paintings of this age.
