A charming little nineteenth-century watercolour. An inscription to the lower right identifies the scene as Grasmere Sports, a traditional sporting event held in the Lake District. Distant figures take part in a wrestling competition against a mountainous backdrop, surrounded by crowds of spectators. Well presented in a gilt frame. Attributed on a label affixed to the reverse. Unsigned. On paper.

The condition is good for a picture of this age, with minimal discolouration. Mount burn along the lower edge. Light wear to the frame.
