An extremely fine example of a 19th Century gilt frame with elaborate ornamentation, including pomegranate fruits, foliate scrolling and blooming lilies. Presented in the original Victorian glazed mahogany box frame, the interior cove lined in worn plum velvet.
The rebate of the gilt frame measures 26.7cm x 21.6cm. The window opening measures approximately 25.2cm x 20.2cm. The overall box size measures 39cm x 33.8cm.
This frame is in remarkably good condition for its age and delicate nature. Some flaking of the gilt layer in places. The velvet has worn and faded slightly, giving a fine patina of age. The outer mahogany box has some surface marks, mainly to the upper right.
