Description
An interesting 19th Century hand-coloured etching, entitled 'Westminster Pit: Designed by an Amateur', depicting two pit bulls fighting in a ring, with men either side jeering at the scene. There is an inscription to the reverse on an attached envelope, reading 'Bought January 1936. Owen Shift's white dog Bellie, and Dixon's Toe Biter'.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing, particularly around the plate lines. Scuffing and surface dirt around the edges. There are two tears to the right hand outside edge, about 2-3cm each, one closed. Several very small tears to the upper edge.
