This delightful 18th-century painting depicts the Virgin Mary with Saint Joseph and the Christ Child, identified by Latin inscriptions below. Mary stands on a globe, crushing a serpent (symbolizing the Immaculate Conception), whilst holding a lily and wearing her traditional white and blue robes. Beside her, Joseph cradles the Christ Child. Cherubs drift through the surrounding clouds, enhancing the scene's heavenly atmosphere. Unsigned. Well presented in a gilt frame. On copper.
Condition
Light discolouration to the varnish. Small abrasions to the surface and minor losses of paint to the edge of the panel. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age. light wear to the frame.
