A fine 19th century oil composition of a Victorian lady reading to her sick niece, in a luxurious dining room interior. Fixed to the reverse of the painting is a label inscribe, 'Charlotte Butler left - lies by her Aunt J Edwards 1899', with an illegible artist signature and inscription beneath. On panel.
Condition
Inspection under UV light reveals a small amount of restoration and over painting to the composition. Visible on the left-hand side is a 13cm linear indentation to the front of painted panel.
