A striking mid 19th Century portrait of a boy in an attractive blue check jacket with frilled collar. His soft hazel eyes, gentle smile and blonde hair show a delicate youth in the sitter that adds much charm to the portrait. The painting is unsigned and presented in a 20th Century gilt effect frame with card mount. There is a handwritten label pasted at the reverse, cut from the original frame, with the sitter's name, his age at the time the painting was executed (15 years old) and the date. On wove.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. The frame has some minor surface losses and tarnishing.
